Garden City man arrested in shooting

? A Garden City man has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend.

Jose Delacruz-Flores, 64, was arrested Saturday night for allegedly shooting Irma Davalos-Garcia, 52, in the head at close range in front of a local club, police said.

He has not yet been charged in the shooting, according to the Finney County prosecutor’s office, which was reviewing the case.

At least two shots were fired about 10:40 p.m. Saturday at the Mi Oficina Club after Delacruz-Flores and Davalos-Garcia got into an argument that ended a dating relationship, according to Garden City police Capt. Mike Utz.

After the argument, Delacruz-Flores left the club and returned with a handgun, which he allegedly used to shoot at Davalos-Garcia and a friend of hers, according to police. He then fled the club, police said.

Utz said a witness followed Delacruz-Flores, then returned to the club and gave police Delacruz-Flores’ license plate number and location.

The Finney County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol apprehended Delacruz-Flores.
