Old home town – 100 years ago today

From the Lawrence Daily World for July 13, 1906: “Democrats are disturbed at reports that Col. W.A. Harris, candidate for governor, is about to withdraw from the race. Chairman W.H. Ryan says there is no truth to the rumor but the party seems seriously concerned. : State treasurer Kelly has been cleared of all charges of wrongdoing after thorough audits. He has been quiet but we can expect some comments soon about his accusers. : A new hospital, YWCA rooms and barns are among the projects to be arranged soon at Haskell Institute. The business department has been restored and a number of important works are in the offing.”
