Chicago ? This time, A.J. Pierzynski landed the big hit.

Pierzynski’s three-run homer off closer Ryan Dempster capped a two-out rally in the ninth and lifted the Chicago White Sox over the Chicago Cubs, 8-6, Saturday.

The Cubs led 6-5 when Ross Gload singled on a slow roller that deflected off Dempster’s calf. Shortstop Ronny Cedeno was unable to barehand it, and Jermaine Dye walked. That brought up Pierzynski, who knocked a 1-1 pitch out to right for his fifth homer, and the White Sox won for the 13th time in 15 games.

The game was delayed for about five minutes after Pierzynski’s homer when agitated Cubs fans pelted the field with debris. The grounds crew at Wrigley Field cleaned up the cups, plastic bottles and other items before the game resumed.

Pierzynski barreled over Cubs catcher Michael Barrett on May 20 at U.S. Cellular Field. Barrett responded by grabbing Pierzynski and punching him in the face, setting off a brawl.

New York – Steve Trachsel won his fifth straight start, and the New York Mets roughed up Randy Johnson again, snapping their four-game losing streak. Paul Lo Duca had three hits and two RBIs for the Mets.

Arlington, Texas – Rookie right-hander Taylor Buchholz allowed only two singles over seven innings, and Mike Lamb homered for the Astros.

Oakland, Calif. – Miguel Batista carried a perfect game into the seventh inning to help the Diamondbacks get the victory. Batista (8-5) finished with a three-hitter.

Anaheim, Calif. – Kelvim Escobar pitched seven shutout innings to snap a personal seven-game losing streak, and Garret Anderson had two hits to give him 2,000 in his career.

Blue Jays 5, Phillies 2

Toronto – Troy Glaus and Eric Hinske homered in the sixth inning.

Red Sox 11, Marlins 5

Miami – Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz each homered twice and combined to drive in nine runs. Boston’s major-league-record run of 17 consecutive errorless games ended with two miscues in the first inning.

Cincinnati – Ailing Travis Hafner had a pinch-hit grand slam that tied a Cleveland record. Hafner matched Al Rosen’s 1951 club mark with his fourth grand slam of the season.

Pittsburgh – Detroit’s infield defense uncharacteristically broke down in a seven-run Pittsburgh seventh inning.

Washington – Nick Johnson ended a month-long homerless streak with his first game-ending drive to lift the Nationals.

Minneapolis – Derrick Turnbow’s bases-loaded walk to Shannon Stewart in the eighth forced home the go-ahead run.

Padres 7-1, Giants 4-4

San Diego – Pedro Feliz tripled in Steve Finley with the go-ahead run with one out in the 10th inning and San Francisco beat San Diego to split a day-night doubleheader. The NL West-leading Padres won the first game 7-4.
