Upsets aplenty: No. 5 Florida, No. 9 West Virginia headline quartet of casualties

Florida lost its second straight after opening the season with 17 victories.

Raleigh, N.C. – Donald Copeland had 22 points, Kelly Whitney added 17, and the Pirates handed the Wolfpack their first home loss of the season.

Atlanta – Nik Caner-Medley scored a career-high 33 points, and Maryland shook off the loss of leading scorer Chris McCray for the win that tied Gary Williams with Lefty Driesell as the winningest coaches in Maryland history.

Starkville, Miss. – C.J. Watson scored 19 points, and the Volunteers followed their weekend upset of Florida with the rout.

Chapel Hill, N.C. – Craig Smith scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half to help the Eagles hold off the Tar Heels and give coach Al Skinner his 300th victory.

Louisville, Ky. – Taquan Dean, who missed all but 12 minutes of the Cardinals’ last five games with a sprained ankle, scored 16 points as Louisville snapped a three-game losing streak.

Madison, Wis. – Alando Tucker scored 17, points and the Badgers snapped a two-game losing streak to remain atop the Big Ten standings.
