Sprinkles possible this afternoon

You might have to pull out an umbrella this afternoon as a cold front moves in to the Lawrence area, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“We could see a few sprinkles under that cloud cover,” Schack said.

But this morning, skies were mostly clear. At 7:30 a.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 28 degrees, the humidity was 81 percent and winds were calm.

Schack said clouds would begin moving in during the midmorning hours. Temperatures will rise into the 40s today, she said.

“We’re heading up to 45 degrees, peaking out about the noon hour,” she said. Temperatures will slowly fall in the afternoon, with winds picking up from the northwest at 10 to 20 mph, she said. By 4 p.m., temperatures will be about 42 degrees, she said.

Overnight, temperatures will fall to 26 degrees by early Tuesday morning. Tuesday’s afternoon high will be 43 degrees, with decreasing clouds, Schack said.

Wednesday’s early morning temperature will plunge to 17 degrees, but the high will rebound in the afternoon to 53 degrees, with mostly sunny skies, she said.
