Eudora ? Advice for future Veritas Christian opponents: Look out, the Eagles are beginning to peak.

The Eagles (13-7) knocked off Flint Hills Christian, 70-44, in high school boys basketball on Tuesday.

“We’re pushing the ball well, which has been our focus since January,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said. “We just keep improving, and we are hopefully peaking at the right time with us heading into state next week.”

Marcus Holman had a game-high 19 points. He also dished four assists, as did Josh Masrud.

Andrew Bartlow followed his double-double Friday against St. Mary’s Academy with another, posting 14 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

“We need to continue to get good consistent play from Bartlow,” Bennett said. “We also need strong play from Holman.”

Veritas will play host Thursday to Hyman Brand.

Flint Hills 49, Veritas girls 26

Eudora – Basketball squads that shoot 18 percent from the field don’t often win, as Veritas Christian proved Tuesday night in its 49-26 girls basketball loss to Flint Hills Christian.

Kristie Tiegreen led the Eagles with nine points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

“It was a good first half – we are really struggling and learning to be consistent from half to half and game to game,” Veritas coach Kevin Shelton said.

Marteka Carlton added six points for the Eagles, and Becky Finger had five rebounds.

Veritas (9-10) will play host Thursday to Hyman Brand.
