Faculty mourns death of doctoral student

Kansas University faculty and others are mourning the death of Jonathan Foster, a student who was found dead at his home Monday.

Foster was a first-year doctoral student in mathematics from San Diego. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree from San Diego State University. He was teaching his second section in calculus at KU this semester.

“We are all deeply saddened at the sudden loss of this very talented young man who had quickly demonstrated great promise and ability in the short time he was here at KU,” Chancellor Robert Hemenway said in a release.
