Former VP candidate to give Vickers Lecture

Former vice presidential candidate Jack Kemp will be the speaker for this year’s Vickers Memorial Lecture, the same program that last year brought conservative commentator Ann Coulter to Lawrence.

Kemp will discuss “America’s Global Leadership Imperative” at 7 p.m. March 27 at Kansas University’s Lied Center. The event, sponsored by the KU School of Business, is free and open to the public.

Kemp was Bob Dole’s running mate in 1996. He is founder and chairman of Kemp Partners, a strategic consulting firm.

He also is chairman of the board of FreeMarket Global Limited, which conducts merchant banking, trading and investment activities. Kemp also served as secretary of housing and urban development and as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
