Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 30, 1906: “A man accused of being the local ‘grabber” of women’s purses in recent weeks has been caught. He not only tried to rob his victims but walked alongside them and insulted them. Police feel sure they have the right man. : Our W.R. Stubbs continues to gain momentum for the U.S. Senate and every citizen of Douglas County should be glad. Few men in state politics have such unanimous support from the people at home as Mr. Stubbs seems to have. : The Santa Fe Railway has adopted a new pension system where aged workers will be taken care of when they are too old to work. It is supposed to be one of the best pensions to be found in the country.”
