A hearing on a motion to suppress a confession has been rescheduled in the case of a man charged in the murder of a rural Douglas County man.

District Attorney Charles Branson on Friday asked that the hearing be continued because sheriff’s detectives who might need to testify are on vacation.

The vacations already had been planned before the suppression hearing was initially scheduled, Branson said.

District Court Judge Michael Malone granted the continuance, rescheduling the hearing for 2:30 p.m. Jan. 11.

The motion for suppression was filed by Craig Stancliffe, the defense attorney for Leonard W. Price. Price is charged with first-degree murder in the April 2005 burglary at the rural Lecompton home of Clarence David Boose, 77. Price, 44, of Topeka, was charged in July.

Stancliffe also has filed a motion to suppress information concerning a search warrant. That motion also will be handled during the Jan. 11 hearing.

Price is scheduled to be tried in March. During a preliminary hearing, a detective testified that Price said during questioning that another man who was with him during the burglary shot and killed Boose. So far no one else has been charged in the case.
