KNOXVILLE, TENN. ? Add another improbable comeback to Tennessee’s early season resume.

Chris Lofton scored a career-high 35 points, including a long three-pointer to give the Volunteers their first lead in the second half, and Tennessee held off Texas for a 111-105 overtime victory on Saturday.

The Vols (10-2), who needed a last-second shot to beat No. 15 Oklahoma State on Monday, rallied from 17 points down in the second half to take an 88-87 lead when Lofton hit a three with 18 seconds left in regulation.

Tennessee’s Ramar Smith was then fouled and made one of two free throws, and Texas (8-3) forced overtime when freshman Kevin Durant drove to the basket and scored with 1.1 seconds left to tie it at 89.

The Vols never trailed in overtime, and the young Longhorns couldn’t find the groove they had when dominating earlier in the game.

Kansas State 72, New Mexico 56

Las Vegas – Cartier Martin scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Wildcats past the Lobos in the championship game of the Las Vegas Classic.

Martin, who went 8-of-15 from the field, was named MVP of the eight-team, four-game tournament.

Bill Walker had 13 points with eight rebounds, while David Hoskins added 11 points for Kansas State (10-3).

J.R. Giddens led New Mexico (9-3) with 12 points, going 5-of-11 from the field.

Nebraska 70, Houston 57

Honolulu – Aleks Maric scored 21 points, and the Cornhuskers dominated the Cougars in the second half to win the third-place game at the Rainbow Classic.

Sek Henry added a career-high 20 points, including three three-pointers, as Nebraska (8-3) went on a 20-3 run after the half to overcome a 39-34 deficit.

Houston (5-5) was led by Dion Dowell with 24 points and seven rebounds.

Iowa State 87, SE Missouri State 71

Ames, Iowa – Mike Taylor scored 18 points as the Cyclones tied a school record with 13 three-pointers and won for just the second time in seven games.

Freshman Cory Johnson scored a career-high 13 points for Iowa State (8-5).
