Old home town – 40 years ago today

Haskell Institute was expecting an enrollment of about 1,100 Native American students for the fall term of 1966. Thomas Tommaney was the superintendent.

A record low of 50 degrees was registered in Lawrence in the early morning hours.

Dr. C. Arden Miller, former provost and director of the Kansas University Medical Center, resigned from the faculty at the school to become vice chancellor for health sciences at North Carolina University at Chapel Hill.
