Gunshots reported twice this week

Recent reports of two incidents of gunplay and one stabbing have kept police busy in a southern Lawrence neighborhood.

According to a police report released Tuesday, officers responded about 2:55 a.m. Monday to the 2500 block of Redbud Lane after a caller reported hearing two gunshots.

It was at least the third weapons-related call to that area in the last week.

Previously, gunshots were reported in the same block about 1:15 a.m. Sunday.

On July 31, a stabbing near 26th Street and Redbud Lane sent a 43-year-old Lawrence man to the hospital. The victim in that case was in fair condition Tuesday at University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan.

Richard J. Tebe, 36, has been charged with aggravated battery in the stabbing. No suspects have been identified in the gunshot reports.
