Site approved for Eisenhower memorial
WASHINGTON, D.C. ? The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday gave unanimous approval for the future location of a memorial to former President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The four-acre site, near the Department of Education and the National Mall, already had been approved by the U.S. Senate.
Eisenhower, a native of Abilene, was the only Kansan to become president. He also commanded Allied forces in Europe during World War II.
The site will be dedicated this summer.
