Temperatures to fall into the 30s overnight

Cold air seeped into Lawrence today, forcing temperatures down into the 40s by late this afternoon – and temperatures will continue to fall tonight into the 30s by early Wednesday morning, said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

At 5 p.m., Lawrence’s temperature had fallen to 49 degrees, the humidity was 86 percent and winds were from the northwest at 16 mph, gusting to 20 mph.

The average low temperature for this date is 49 degrees. The record low was 31 degrees, set in 2002. The average high temperature for this date is 70 degrees. The record high was 92 degrees, set in 1989.

Schack said temperatures will continue to drop overnight to a low of 36 degrees by early Wednesday morning.

Wednesday’s high temperature will climb to only 59 degrees, with some sunshine in the late afternoon, she said.

Thursday’s morning low will be 40 degrees, Schack said. Thursday’s high temperature will reach 72 degrees, with mostly sunny skies, she said.
