Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Weekly World for April 22, 1906: “Agriculture secretary Coburn issued a report on the present condition of wheat in Kansas counties. The showing made by Douglas County is especially flattering and is far above the average of the state. Douglas County has 26,550 acres of the crop and the status of the crops seems to be 100 percent. Not one acre of wheat around here has had to be plowed up because of difficulties. : The Democratic state convention in Topeka has decided on W.A. Harris, ex-senator from the state, as its candidate for governor.”
