Altrusa International Inc. of Lawrence is sponsoring its first “Run, Walk, Ride for Reading” on May 6. The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kaw River Trail near the Lawrence Visitor’s Center. The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement at seven and a half tables directed by Virginia Seaver on April 12. Madelyn Jenks and Virginia Seaver won first in A playing North-South, followed by Virginia Eddy and Phyllis Brownlee who won second in A and first in B. Eldon Herd and John Gilbert won third in A. Klee Zaricky and Betty Collier won second in B and Mary Joyce and Mark Osborn won first in C.

Playing East-West, Paul Heitzman and Dave Piro won first in A. Bebe Huxtable and Wanna Roszel won first in B and C and second in A. Ann Thompson and Grant Sutton won second in B and C and third in A.

The Wednesday Evening Bridge Club played four tables in a stratified Howell movement directed by Don Brennaman on April 12. Virginia Seaver and Harriett Olson won first in A followed by Jo Andersen and Jeane Landry who won second. Harry Talley and Don Daugherty won first in B and third in A, and Helen and Bob Huffman won second in B.

The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club played 10 and a half tables in a stratified Mitchell movement on April 14. The game was directed by Don Brennaman. Jim Masilamani and Virginia Seaver won first in A playing North/South. Frances Vogel and Erna Holmes won second in A and Judy Hildreth and Janice Hollowell won third. Betty Spalsbury and Jo Andersen won first in B and C and Harry Talley and Don Daugherty won second in B and C.

Playing East-West, Shirlie Vaughn and Sidney Sutton won first in A and B. Mark Osborn and Russell LaForce won second in both strata, and Madelyn Jenks and Mona Bell won third. Lynn Hui and Cathy Blumenfeld won first in C.

The Monday Evening Bridge Club was directed by Virginia Seaver on April 17. Ten tables played a stratified Mitchell movement. At North-South, Clyde Romer and Shari Krentzel won first in A, followed by Donna Johnson and Jim Masilamani who won second. Harry Shaffer and Terry Tolar won third in A. Barbara Merriam and Dorothy Netson won first in B and C and Mike Lee and Earl Core won second.

Mike and Cathy Blumenfeld won first in A, B and C playing East-West. Virginia Seaver and Paul Heitzman won second in A and Shirlie Vaughn and Sally Taylor won third. Jean Otney and Jeff Nash won second in B and Emily Foster and Sam Pierron won second in C.
