Blaze breaks out at Dickens’ Bleak House

? About 30 firefighters were called late Sunday night to Bleak House, where author Charles Dickens finished his classic novel “David Copperfield.”

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was in a private residential bedroom, and had not damaged the building’s museum wing.

Bleak House overlooks the sea from its clifftop position.

No one was injured in the blaze, and the family that lives in the historic building was out at the time.
