Kansas rowing 4-2 at home regatta

Kansas University’s rowing team won four of six races at its first home regatta Saturday on the Kansas River.

“I was really pleased with how they raced today,” KU coach Rob Catloth said. “They competed very well and were aggressive in each event they raced in.”

The Jayhawks split victories in the varsity races. Tulsa won the second varsity four with a time of 7:44.8, while Kansas, only 4.9 seconds behind, came in second. Tulsa also won the first varsity four race in 7:34.2. Drake was second at 7:40.7, and KU was third at 7:57.4.

KU won the second varsity eight in 7:58.15 and the first varsity eight in 6:46.0. Kansas also won both novice races: the first novice eight in 7:10.9 and the first novice four in 7:58.15.

KU will play host to Kansas State on Saturday for the Kansas Cup.
