Commissioners delay action on turnaround

Douglas County commissioners Wednesday delayed action on a request to install a temporary turnaround along East 920 Road near Clinton Parkway and the northeast portion of Kansas Highway 10.

“I don’t feel comfortable with making a decision on this,” Commissioner Jere McElhaney said. “It just makes me feel a little queasy.”

Commissioners said it would be good to double-check the legalities of constructing a temporary turnaround 30 feet before East 920 Road ends.

The location of the potential turnaround currently is where the county road maintenance ends.

The matter will be back before the commission at 6:35 p.m. on Sept. 21.
