A Lawrence High and Kansas University graduate was named as an honorable mention member on USA Today’s 2005 All-USA Teacher Team.

Ronda Hassig is a library media specialist at Harmony Middle School in Overland Park. Her name was listed in Thursday’s USA Today with honorable mention winners from 13 other states.

She was the only educator named from Kansas.

“It’s been very fun. In my profession, a lot of librarians aren’t seen as teachers, but some of us are true library teachers,” Hassig said.

She has worked for 14 years in the Blue Valley district. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1976 and Kansas University in 1980 with an education degree.
