EPA lauds city’s sewer treatment plant

The Environmental Protection Agency has honored the city’s sewer treatment plant.

Staff members of the plant received awards for their operation and maintenance efforts and for exemplary management of biosolids. The city’s operations were nominated for the award by administrators in the Kansas City region of the EPA.

“To be recognized with two awards is an accomplishment that is unprecedented,” said Dave Wagner, the city’s assistant director of utilities.

The city formally will be recognized at the Water Environment Federation’s Technical Exposition and Conference on Oct. 31 in Washington, D.C.
