Humane Society breaks fundraising record

The Lawrence Humane Society raised about $45,000 Friday for its facilities during the 11th Pawsible Dream Benefit Auction at the Lawrence Holidome, said board member Laura Palmer.

While the amount was an estimate late Friday, it already was the society’s most successful benefit, Palmer said.

About 550 people attended the silent and live auctions and bid on Kansas University football and basketball tickets and other items. Proceeds will help provide food, shelter, medication, vaccination and veterinary care to hundreds of animals.
