Members appointed to zoning board

Douglas County commissioners voted Monday to appoint two new members to the Board of Zoning Appeals.

Commissioners appointed Dave Anderson, of Overbrook, and Lawrence James, of Lecompton, to the Board of Zoning Appeals, assuming the seats previously occupied by Kay Hodge and Alden Bradley. The board reviews applications from people seeking exceptions to the county’s land-use rules.

Commissioners also reappointed Melissa Boisen, of Lawrence, to the board for Douglas County Community Corrections.

Commissioners also met in executive session to discuss issues related to personnel and land acquisition, said Craig Weinaug, county administrator.

Last week Lawrence city commissioners met in executive session to discuss personnel matters, and, on Friday, City Manager Mike Wildgen announced the resignation – effective Dec. 31 – of Linda Finger, director of the Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Office.
