KU professor named to White House conference

A Kansas University professor has been named a delegate to the 2005 White House Conference on Aging, to be held Oct. 23-26 in Washington, D.C.

Rosemary Chapin, professor of social welfare and director of the Office of Aging and Long-Term Care, was selected for the conference by Rep. Dennis Moore, D-Kan. The conference occurs once a decade to make policy recommendations to the president and Congress, and to assist the public and private sectors in promoting dignity, health, independence and economic security for older adults. It first took place in 1961.

This year’s conference is titled “The Booming Dynamics of Aging: From Awareness to Action.”

Chapin also has worked with the Kansas Department of Aging and SRS to improve long-term care services.
