Expect lots of sunshine and high temperatures today

Mild morning temperatures this morning will lead to a sunny, warm afternoon.

“Winds out of the south will help temperatures climb well above average,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “We’ll have a lot of sunshine.”

Today’s high is expected to reach 90, with breezy winds of 10-20 mph. The average high for this date is 76.

At 7:30 a.m., the skies were sunny and the temperature in downtown Lawrence was 60, with humidity of 90%.

There are showers to the north and clouds to the south, but neither should affect the local forecast, Schack said. “We’ll stay dry today and Wednesday.”

Tonight should be mild, with winds staying around 10-15 mph and temperatures dropping to 66 for an overnight low.

Wednesday will remain in the high 80s, but the rest of the week may slide back into the 70s or even dip into the 60s.
