New officers for University Women’s Club were elected for the 2005-06 academic year at the club’s Spring Scholarship Luncheon.

They include Gwen Dobson, president; Janis Hutchison, president-elect; Jerrye Van Leer, recording secretary; Kathe Dougherty, corresponding secretary; Sandi Miller, treasurer-elect; and Susan Lacy, Jane Rogers and Carol Smith, members-at-large.

Chairwomen of the standing committee include Nancy Hale-Martinko, interest groups; Anne Poggio, Malott room; Barbara Downing, membership and nominations; Judy Niebaum, new members and friends, and Jeannot Seymour, publications design.

Committee chairwomen-elect include Suzanne McColl, Carolyn Schroeder, Faith Greenwood, Ann Blackhurst, Glenda Stevens, Nancy Yacher, Rita Spradlin, Suzanne Collins, Betsy Weaver, Grace Marion, Mary Ross, Mary Beth Petr, Sandi Miller and Janis Hutchison. Alita Cooper was chairwoman of the nominating committee. Members of the committee included Mary Loveland, Rita Spradlin, Tammy Steeples and Phyllis Tiffany.

University Bridge Club announces the results of its April 30 game. Hosts were Karmie and Edna Galle. Blue winners were: Harold Riehm, first; Leo Langlois, second; Dale Kring, third; Alice Akin, fourth; and Edna Galle, fifth. Pink winners were: Donna Riehm, first; Hazel Stelmacher, second; Virginia Williams, third; Wanda Kring, fourth; and Mona Langlois, fifth.

The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club’s April 27 game was stratified, used the Mitchell movement and was directed by Virginia Seaver.

The North South winners were Yvonne Hedges and Sally Taylor, followed by Virginia Seaver and Mona Bell. Chris Lane and Carol Ball placed third in A and first in B. Phyllis Brownlee and Virginia Eddy placed fourth in A and second in B. The East West winners were Paul Heitzman and David Piro, followed by Klee Zaricky and Betty Collier at second in A and first in B. Marge Hitchcock and Virginia Johnston placed third in A and second in B.

The Wednesday Evening Bridge Club’s April 27 game was stratified, used the Mitchell movement and was directed by Don Brennaman. The North South winners were John Reese and Shirley Reese, followed by Jolene Andersen and Ilse Steinhardt at second in A and first in B. Barbara Hamilton and Bill Hamilton were third in A and second in B. The East West winners were Mary Beth Treece and Judy Bevan at first in A and B, followed by Helen Huffman and Robert Huffman at second in A. Bebe Huxtable and Kathryn Hagen placed third in A and second in B.

The North South winners were Eldon Herd and Charles Hedges, followed by Madelyn Jenks and Mona Bell at second in A, first in B and first in C. Janice Hollowell and Gladys Rivard were third in A, second in B and second in C. Sally Taylor and Shirlie Vaughn tied for fourth place in A with Phyllis Brownlee and Virginia Eddy. The East West winners were Klee Zaricky and Yvonne Hedges, followed by Virginia Johnston and Barbara McCorkle at second in A, first in B and first in C. Lynn Hui and Harry Shaffer were third in A, followed by Jean Otney and Mary Chrisman at fourth in A. Wanna Roszel and Bebe Huxtable placed second in B and C, followed by Glenna Herd and Catherine Blumenfeld at third in B.
