Expanded schedule begins tonight

Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission agenda highlights ¢ 6:35 p.m. today ¢ City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets

Bottom line

Planning commissioners have changed their meeting schedule. Beginning this week, the commission will meet twice per month. Commissioners will meet on the fourth Monday of each month to conduct a study session and to approve items that do not require a public hearing. Those meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets. Commissioners will consider items that require a public hearing on the fourth Wednesday of each month, also at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Background

Commissioners previously conducted a meeting only on the fourth Wednesday of each month. An increase in the number of items the commission must consider led to the new meeting schedule.

Commissioners also will have a special meeting Feb. 2 to accept public comments on the Southeast Area Plan.
