Clayton D. Watts, Ottawa

Mr. Watts died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa.

He was born April 8, 1926, in Vinland, the son of Charles and Nettie Weib Watts. He grew up in the Ottawa area and attended Ottawa High School.

Mr. Watts worked for Sunflower Ordnance Depot in DeSoto before purchasing a milk route and beginning a dairy operation in 1955. He concentrated on dairy until 1974 when he began farming and raising beef cattle.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge, Aerie 2700, and a past member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 803. Clayton was also a member of the Lincoln Township Fire Department and the Kansas Livestock Assn.

He married Betty DeMaranville on Aug. 20, 1945, in Garnett. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Teresa Miller and Audrey Reed, both of Ottawa; two sons, Buck Watts, Ottawa, and Donald Stevens, Lawrence; a sister, Cleo Liddle; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa.
