KU rallies, falls short

? Kansas University’s women’s basketball team rallied from a 16-point second-half deficit and forged a tie with 15 seconds left, but Texas A&M’s A’Quonesia Franklin hit the game-winning jumper with 1.8 seconds remaining as the Aggies escaped the Jayhawks, 62-60, Saturday night.

Franklin hit an 18-foot jumper that broke a 60-all tie and gave Texas A&M (11-3 overall, 2-2 Big 12 Conference) its second straight conference win.

Taylor McIntosh had a layup for Kansas (7-8, 0-4), and Aquanita Burras followed with a short jumper as the Jayhawks tied the score at 60 with 15 seconds left.

After Franklin’s jumper, time expired before KU got a shot off.

“I gave our kids a tremendous amount of credit to fight their way back,” KU coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “I told them not to hang their heads. We have to be able to grow and realize we have to play like that for 40 minutes.”

Ashley Bolden scored 11 points for the Aggies.

Burras had 24 points for the Jayhawks, and Erica Hallman added 10 points and eight rebounds.

KU next will play host to Missouri on Saturday.
