Ronald Reagan will be the focus of this year’s Presidential Lecture Series at the Dole Institute of Politics.

Four lectures during February will focus on the former president, who died in June.

Reagan biographer Lou Cannon will kick off the events with a lecture at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Lied Center.

Other scheduled events, each at 7:30 p.m. at the Dole Institute’s Hansen Hall, are:

• “Stagecraft Stories: How Advance Work Builds Presidential Image,” a presentation by Reagan staffers Jim Hooley and Andrew Littlefair, Feb. 17.
• “Reagan and Gorbachev: How the Cold War Ended,” lecture by Jack Matlock, former U.S. ambassador to the Soviet Union, Feb. 24.
• “Electing Reagan: The Presidential Campaign,” discussion by a panel of former Reagan campaign staffers, Feb. 28.

Bill Lacy, who started in October as director of the Dole Institute, is a former political adviser to Reagan. He said the lecture series was moved from November to February to coincide with President’s Day.

Each of the lectures will be free and open to the public. Book-signings for those speakers who have written books will follow the lectures.
