The Safe Winter Walkways Program seeks volunteers to shovel snow on behalf of elderly and disabled community members. The program serves community members who are unable to shovel their sidewalks by matching them with a volunteer in their area to shovel after each significant snowfall this winter. The Roger Hill Volunteer Center and the city of Lawrence have partnered to make this program possible. Immediate volunteer needs

¢ Trinity In-Home Care needs a temporary volunteer to assist with typing and data entry during the month of December at the Trinity office. Hours are flexible, but limited to Monday through Friday. Basic experience with computers and typing is necessary. Length of commitment can be determined by volunteer, or will depend on amount of time needed for data entry. ¢ Douglas County Senior Meals needs several drivers to delivery meals to Douglas County senior citizens who are homebound. Meal delivery takes place Monday through Friday, and volunteers are asked to commit to one delivery route each week for an hour or less. ¢ Lawrence Meals on Wheels seeks volunteer drivers to assist with meal delivery. The program provides hot nutritious meals to the homebound elderly and/or disabled people residing in Lawrence. Positions are available each day of the week to pick up and deliver meals; delivery takes about 45 minutes. Volunteers must be 16 or older unless signing up with a parent. ¢ The Salvation Army seeks volunteers to assist during the holiday season. Assistance is needed for bell ringing at local businesses; preparation and distribution of holiday meals; coordination and organization of the holiday Toy Shop; Holiday Bureau Adopt-a-Family program; and many other volunteer opportunities related to the holiday season.
