New Urbanism proposal on Wednesday’s agenda

The Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission will discuss a major new development along Sixth Street between Wakarusa Drive and Folks Road at its Wednesday meeting.

The commission will hear the preliminary development plan for Bauer Farm, a 43-acre, New Urbanism development that will include housing, retail and office uses. The commission will meet at 6:30 on Wednesday at City Hall. Other items on the commission’s agenda include a hearing on the preliminary development plan for Fairfield Farms East, a 119-acre development south of 23rd Street between O’Connell Road and Franklin Road. The project will include single family homes, apartments, duplexes, office uses and retail uses.
