No Douglas County residents or businesses filed for bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Kansas, during the week ending Thursday.

So far, only two such filings have been made from Douglas County since new federal bankruptcy rules took effect Oct. 17, according to court records.

The had been a rush of filings leading up to the change. On Sunday, Oct. 16 – the day before the deadline – there were 551 cases filed statewide, according to the court’s Web site. Of those cases, 41 involved filings from Douglas County.
