Midland Railfest set for Labor Day weekend

Midland Railway’s Railfest in Baldwin will feature train rides aboard vintage coaches and cabooses during Labor Day weekend Sept. 3-5.

The train will depart from the Santa Fe Depot at 1515 High St. in Baldwin with one round trip each day at 11 a.m. to Norwood and two trips to Ottawa at 1 and 3:30 p.m. The old Kansas City Southern Railroad Post office will be manned by retired clerks offering a commemorative cancellation.

The Misty River Band and the Singing Conductors will perform railway music.

Fares for Norwood will be $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 4 through 12 and free for children three and younger. Ottawa fares will be $15 for adults and $7 for children 4-12.
