Sunny and steamy day ahead

Get ready for a hot and sticky day.

“Not a lot of clouds to be found,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “All sunshine on Mass. Street. All blue skies overhead.”

At 8:15 a.m. today, the temperature was 77 degrees and the humidity was 90%. A few thunderstorms passed through the area last night, leaving enough moisture to create a steamy afternoon.

Schack said that today’s high will reach 96, with heat index of 100 or more. The skies will turn partly cloudy later in the day, although the clouds won’t cool things off very much. Tonight’s low will be an above-average 75, with less chance of rain than yesterday or tomorrow.

Friday will continue the warming trend, with a high of 98. There is a chance of rain tomorrow, especially later in the day and overnight. A cold front will sweep into the region on Saturday, bringing the possibility of rain and temperatures in the mid-80’s. Sunday should be dry and slightly below average.
