Knights donated money that was raised during October's Tootsie Roll
drive.
Logan Masenthin, 11, and her mentor Beth Dwyer, of Eudora, are
pictured at Logan's bake sale. She organized and sponsored a bake
sale Feb. 27 at Immanuel Lutheran Church to raise money for the
Lawrence Open Shelter/Drop-In Center. Her sale raised 67. Logan
and Dwyer used the proceeds and donations they collected from
church members to buy toiletries and food items for the shelter.
The project was a service learning project for Immanuel Lutheran
Church's early communion and Christian mentoring program. Logan's
parents are Lee and Tricia Masenthin, Lawrence, and Doug and
Melissa Jackson, Kansas City, Mo.

Wakeman, all of Douglas County, attend Kansas Farm Bureau's annual
Capitol Experience program. The program was Feb. 23 in Topeka. It
is designed to provide students a firsthand look at Kansas
government. The group had breakfast with the legislators, toured
the Capitol, attended committee meetings and observed the House and
Senate in session. They were sponsored by Douglas County Farm
Bureau.

The Knights present two 00 scholarships each year. One goes to a
graduating high school senior who is Catholic. The other goes to a
Knight or family member.
