Dry weather expected through mid week

Lawrence was a little on the chilly side this morning, as temperatures had dropped to the high 50s by 8:15 a.m.

But you won’t need long sleeves on your way home from school today — temperatures are expected to climb into the mid 80s by late afternoon, said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

Schack said Lawrence will stay dry again today, with a few clouds, as the temperatures climb to 79 by noon and eventually reach 86 by late afternoon. Today will be a bit breezy, with south and east winds 10-20 mph, gusting up to around 30 mph, she said.

Overnight, showers will be to the west of Lawrence, Schack said. Skies will be partly cloudy, with a waxing crescent moon that will be illuminated 37 percent.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 63 by early Tuesday morning, Schack said.

“We will see a few more clouds on Tuesday, but we do keep it dry,” she said. Tuesday’s high will be 84.

Wednesday and Thursday will be mostly cloudy, with the best chance for scattered showers on Thursday, she said.

The National Weather Service says there’s a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and a 30 percent chance on Wednesday night, Thursday and Thursday night.
