KU sets week of events for academic success

The Office of New Student Orientation is collaborating with more than 15 other Kansas University campus offices for Academic Success Week beginning Sunday.

The week includes workshops, lectures and activities designed to help students with the academic side of college life.

Highlights include “How to Manage Time for Study,” at 3:30 p.m. Monday in 4044 Wescoe Hall; “Becoming a Strong Self-Advocate: Services for Students with Disabilities,” at 3:30 p.m. Monday in 158 Strong Hall; Writing Center Carnival, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday on the Stauffer-Flint lawn; Study Abroad Fair, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Wednesday on the fourth floor of the Kansas Union; University Career Center open house, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday in the Burge Union; and an International Student and Scholar Services reception, 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m. Friday in the English Room at the Kansas Union.

Screenings to measure toddlers’ development

Free developmental testing for children 3 to 5 years old will be available Wednesday morning at East Heights Early Childhood Family Center, 1430 Haskell Ave.

Lawrence Early Childhood Special Services sponsors the screenings.

Parents should call Rusty Schnur, screening coordinator, at 832-5097, for information. The organization will send parents forms to fill out and return. Children must have an appointment to participate.
