WAMEGO ? Baldwin High’s boys did it again.

The Bulldogs won their seventh straight state cross country team title, scoring 41 points at the Class 4A championships Saturday. Baldwin’s win was so convincing, the Bulldogs beat second-place Clearwater by 43 points.

Sam Hinton was the top Baldwin finisher, placing fifth in a time of 16:43.43. Zac Towns placed seventh in 16:46.33, and Chris Elniff was ninth in 16:50.31.

Baldwin’s girls missed another title of their own, however, scoring 89 points to place second in the team standings behind Clay Center (70). Heather Garcia led all Bulldog placers, earning second place in a time of 12:03.96.

Eudora’s girls placed seventh in the team standings, thanks largely to Brittney Graff’s sixth-place finish in 12:29.76.

De Soto’s boys placed seventh, and the Wildcat girls placed ninth.

Seabury sixth in 1A

Wamego — Katie Pottorff placed 12th overall, and the Seabury Academy girls cross country squad placed sixth Saturday at the Class 1A state meet. Pottorff finished the 3,200-meter run in 13:45.83. Other Seabury finishers were: Erika Hierl, 38th, 14:50.46; Wyn Cromwell, 40th, 14:50.88; Linaya Newstrom, 61st, 15:53.82; and Jenn Crawford, 67th, 16:11.17.

Olpe won the team title with 33 points. Seabury was sixth with 90.

On the boys side, Seabury’s Bill Butler was 49th in the 5K run in 19:41.81.

Wellsville 10th in 3A

Wamego — Nate Whalen placed 13th in the boys’ 3.1-mile race in 17:31.1, pacing Wellsville to a 10th-place team finish in Class 3A cross country.

Other WHS results were: Sam Samsel, 37th, 18:25.8; Jerad Livingston, 77th, 19:29.7; Brett Sharp, 87th, 19:44.6; Keith Roecker, 91st, 19:59.5; T.J. Erhart, 101st, 21:03; and Colton Rice, 103rd, 21:42.7. Wellsville’s Aubrey Poor was 17th in the two-mile girls’ race in 13:19.9.

McLouth placed fifth in the girls team standings. Hillary Turner was the top Bulldog finisher, placing 25th in 13:41.69.
