Francisco is a former Lawrence mayor; Buhler is a former Douglas County commissioner.

A chat with Reform Party candidate Jim Mullins is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday.

Mullins, a conservative, co-founded the Kansas Republican Assembly, once serving as the group’s president. He joined the Reform Party, he said, in response the GOP and Democratic parties narrowing their differences.

McElhaney, who faces opposition from independent candidate Marguerite Ermeling, said during his chat that he believes the South Lawrence Trafficway will be completed. The transcript of his chat also is available at www.ljworld.com. Ermeling will participate in a World Online chat at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Questions may be submitted before and during the chats. Chat transcripts will be posted through the Nov. 2 election.
