Former KU official up for Pennsylvania job

A former Kansas University administrator is a finalist to be president of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Judith Ramaley, who currently is assistant director for education and human resources at the National Science Foundation, is one of six finalists for the post at the university of 13,000 students in Indiana, Pa.

Ramaley was executive vice chancellor at KU from 1987 to 1990. She recently returned to the KU campus for a visit with Elias Zerhouni, director of the National Institutes of Health, to attend a bioscience summit.

Ramaley has served as president of Portland State University and the University of Vermont, and had administrative positions at the University of Nebraska and the University of Albany.

Candidates for the Pennsylvania position are interviewing this week and next month.

KU seeks families for Thanksgiving program

Kansas University officials are seeking host families for a Thanksgiving program that this year celebrates its 50th anniversary.

The Betty Grimwood Thanksgiving Homestay Program provides a place for more than 500 KU international students to spend the holiday each year.

Those wishing to host students for all or part of Thanksgiving break, Nov. 24-28, should contact Carol Dias da Silva, program coordinator, by Monday at 864-3617 or carol@ku.edu.
