Arthur N. Hickel

Mr. Hickel died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Cheyenne Meadows Living Center in Hoisington.

He was born Jan. 22, 1919, in Odin, the son of Joseph and Catherine Courange Hickel. He graduated from Hoisington High School in 1938. He was a resident of Hoisington for 14 years coming from Great Bend.

Mr. Hickel served in U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a businessman in Great Bend and former president of Kansas Trucking Assn. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, both of Great Bend.

He married LaVerne Carman on March 28, 1990, in Hays. She survives the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Sharon Atkinson, McPherson, and Janis Bunker, Lawrence; two sons, Steven, Shawnee, and Clifford, San Antonio; a sister Elise Hogan, Great Bend; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. today at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington.
