“The morning commute looks like its going to be wet,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. Downtown Lawrence was getting steady showers about 7:40 a.m.

Schack predicted the showers and thunderstorms the Lawrence area was getting this morning would linger until the middle part of the day.

“We could pick up another shower or isolated thunderstorm in the afternoon,” she said. However, most of the afternoon rain would be east of Lawrence, she said. The National Weather Service predicts a 50 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms tonight until 1 a.m. Friday.
