The Vinland Family Community Education unit will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Lola Ford. After the business meeting, members will plan the programs for the following year and fill out program books.

Members of Douglas County 4-H gathered to celebrate their accomplishments at the 2004 Achievement Banquet Nov. 7 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Winners in more than 40 projects were recognized with special awards. The I Dare You Award went to Ashley Moran and Kyle Morgison. Erin Ashcraft received the Citizenship Award. Erin Ashcraft, Dale Baker, John Berg, Michelle Colgan, Kelly Flanders, Kelli Harris, Reagon Heikes, Mark Jehle and Spencer Wilson received Key Awards. Samantha Milligan received the 4-H Spirit Award.

Karen Flanders was presented the Florine Alexander Award. Twilla Brown received the Dorothy Akin Leadership Award. Richard Ice received the 4-H Alumni Award.

Craig Schultz received the Friend of 4-H Award. The Bob Russell family was recognized as 4-H Family of the Year.

The Douglas County 4-H Council voted on an eight-member officer team for the 2004-2005 council during the October meeting. The officers are Margaret Pendleton, president; Reagon Heikes, vice president; Mary Cox, secretary; Casey Davis, treasurer; Erin Ashcraft, reporter; Megan Barber, historian; Michelle Colgan, parliamentarian; and Kaleb Horne, youth fairboard representative.
