Stull Family and Community Education unit will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lecompton meal site. The lesson will be “Where In The World Is Tasmania?”

Kanwaka Family and Community Education unit will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Aliene Bieber. Reba Bennett will give a lesson “Breathing Easy: Controlling Asthma Triggers.” Mary James will give the program “Grass Roots Politics.”

India Family and Community Education unit will meet at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the home of Beulah Anderson. Co-hostess: Emma Garrett. Bonnie Bond will give the lesson “Getting Organized.”

The Jayhawk 4-H Club met Oct. 11 at Grant Community Center. Dulce Shultz, president, called the meeting to order. Members answered roll call by telling their favorite Halloween costumes. There were two guests at the meeting.

Members visited the Kansas City Zoo and Imax theater for the club’s fall activity. Members discussed community service ideas for December which included ringing bells for the Salvation Army, adopting a family, serving at Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen, and collecting clothes and toiletry supplies.

The following officers were installed: Dulce Shultz, president; Bridget Falley, vice president; Alyssa Golden, recording secretary; Andrea Williams, treasurer; Aaron Trent, corresponding secretary; Alyssa Golden and Casey Davis, county council representatives; Taylor David, junior president; Margaret Bireta, song leader; Brandon Williams, safety officer; Casey David, parliamentarian; Jackie Hewins, historian; Alex Trent, photographer; and Margaret Bireta, reporter.

The program included project talks by members who are enrolled in the food project. They made treats for the club. Kain Anderson made mummy fingers, and Margaret Bireta made spider crackers. Alex and Aric Trent also helped prepare the Halloween treats.

The club’s achievement celebration will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
