Trudy Hayhurst

? Services for Trudy Hayhurst, 60, Eudora, will be at 3 p.m. today at Eudora United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Hayhurst died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, in Wellsville. Her body was donated to the Kansas University Medical Center anatomy department for scientific study.

She was born Dec. 29, 1943, in Wellsburg, W.Va., the daughter of Charles Robert and Gertrude Virginia Porter Williams. She graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1961. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of South Florida in 1995. She had lived in Wellsburg, W.Va.; Homestead, Fla.; Minot, N.D.; and Palm Harbor, Fla. She moved to Eudora in 1999.

Mrs. Hayhurst was a social worker in Palm Harbor, working with the elderly on craft therapy. She was a member of Eudora United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star. She also was a member of Warsteiner Balloon Chase Crew in Albuquerque, N.M.

She married Harry H. West Sr. in September 1962. They later divorced. She married John T. Hayhurst on July 1, 1982. He died in December 1998.

Survivors include a daughter, Carrie Cowdin, Wellsville; a son, Harry H. West Jr., Albuquerque; three sisters, Linda Abercrombie, Follansbee, W.Va., Charlene Smith, Wellsburg, W.Va., and Kathy Carey, Weirton, W.Va.; and three grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care in Douglas County, 200 Main St., Suite D, Lawrence 66044.
