Silver Stars stop Lynx

? Margo Dydek doesn’t have to start to be effective for San Antonio.

The 7-foot-2 center had 15 points and nine blocks in a reserve role Wednesday night, leading the Silver Stars to a 56-44 win over Minnesota.

Even when she wasn’t swatting the ball away, Dydek’s presence on defense frequently altered Minnesota’s inside shots.

“Tonight was a lesson learned for Nicole Ohlde,” Lynx coach Suzie McConnell Serio said, referring to her 6-foot-5 rookie center from Kansas State. “We have players on this team who have faced Dydek before and know that you can’t really hope to shoot over her.”

Ohlde, who led Minnesota with 14 points and nine rebounds, was blocked six times by Dydek.
