Calvary Temple Assembly of God

Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 606 W. 29th St. Terrace, will have an all-family church supper at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall. Participants are encouraged to bring a favorite dish and a friend to share in fellowship.

First Christian Church

Special music will be performed by the First Christian Church chancel choir, with solos by Jeff Southard and Kim Brook, during the 9 a.m. Sunday traditional worship service at First Christian Church, 1000 Ky.

There will be a special time of blessings for the Kansas University graduates at the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. (contemporary) services.

First Church of the Nazarene

The community is invited to attend “What Color are Dinosaurs? … And Other Questions You’ve Never Thought of Before” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Church of the Nazarene, 1470 N. 1000 Road.

Craig Sundell, a Kansas University paleontologist, will lead a discussion of “the oceans of Kansas,” the age of the Earth and “what color are dinosaurs.”

A freewill offering will be taken.

First Church of the Nazarene will be featured from Monday through June 5 at Signs of Life Christian Book Store, 722 Mass.

First Presbyterian Church

The Rev. Raymond J. Fancher will bring the message during Sunday services at First Presbyterian Church, 2415 Clinton Parkway.

There will be a Moment for Mission about the Douglas County Extension After-School Program for the church’s Pentecost offering, and the congregation will honor its college students who are graduating.

First United Methodist Church

A Spring Tea will be at 3 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church, 946 Vt.

Those who are 80 and older are invited to participate in the tea, which will be in Brady Hall. Jerry Niebaum of the church’s sesquicentennial committee will present a program. There will also be music and refreshments.

Church members will gather at 10:30 a.m. at Brady Hall to thank Sue Morgan for her years of service to the congregation.

Lawrence Wesleyan Church

The community is invited to attend a Ministry Celebration and BBQ, following the 10:45 a.m. Sunday worship service, at Lawrence Wesleyan Church, 3705 Clinton Parkway.

The event is an opportunity to recognize the volunteers who run the church’s ministry programs. There will be a barbecue, moonwalk and dunk tank.

College-age group meets at 5:30 p.m. Sundays at the church. This week’s meeting will be movie night.

Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship

A new Foundations Class is starting at 5 p.m. Sunday at Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship, 700 Wakarusa Drive.

For those who have graduated from the foundations class, new discipleship classes begin at 8:45 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Plymouth Congregational Church

College students who are graduating will be honored in the 9:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vt.

There will be an evening of song and praise from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The community is welcome to attend the event. Casual attire is encouraged.

A new member orientation class will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday for all those who are interested in joining Plymouth. For more information, contact Kay Cerny at the church office at 843-3220. New members will join Plymouth June 6.

St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church

A “Time to Grow” celebration will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 5700 W. Sixth St. There will be no other worship services that day.

Special music will be provided by the combined choirs and praise teams, as well as the Celebration Singers and Ringers.

There will also be a moonwalk and activities for children after the service. Live music will be provided by the Kansas University Jazz Combo.

A new seven-week “12 Steps to Wholeness” Group, for those seeking spiritual help to cope with addictions or obsessive behaviors, begins from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. June 6 at the church. It is open to the community.

Trinity Episcopal Church

Youth and adults from Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt., will leave Lawrence Sunday morning to begin their mission trip to Jamaica.

The group will assist with feeding programs and help with maintenance work at various sites throughout the country.

Sunday’s adult forum will be presented by Linda Silkwood, a representative of The Farm. Her topic will be “Making a Difference by Fostering Youth.” Forum starts at 9:30 a.m. in the parish hall.

Trinity Lutheran Church

Stephen Ministry at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 N.H., expands Sunday with the commissioning of seven new Stephen ministers. They are: Kay Carl, Julie Holmberg, Esther Kottwitz, Ruth Shadel, Harriet Shaffer, Jane Shulenburger and Tom Stubbe.

Trinity has been a Stephen Ministry congregation since 1998 and has 13 other members serving as Stephen ministers. The Rev. Gary Teske, Karen Frankenfeld, Karen Hunt, Joyce Tate and Ruth Sarna are Stephen Ministry leaders at Trinity Lutheran.

Stephen Ministry is a lay-caring ministry in which people provide care for those who are facing a crisis or need someone to befriend them. There are more than 6,000 congregations from 78 denominations enrolled in this ministry to meet the care-giving needs in their communities and churches.

Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence

A spiritual celebration, a “Traditional Flower Communion,” will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Sunday at the Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence, 1263 N. 1100 Road.

A panel discussion, “The Homeless Situation in Lawrence,” will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

There will be a time for fellowship from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Vinland United Methodist Church

“Music on the Lawn” will be at 5 p.m. June 12 at Vinland United Methodist Church.

Participants are asked to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. The event will feature “Rhythm Band.”

Members are asked to call the church office if they are able to donate food items for this event.

West Side Presbyterian Church

There will be a session meeting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at West Side Presbyterian Church, 1024 Kasold Drive. It will be prior to the Sunday service.

Dorcas Circle meets at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Kathy Hagan.

The children’s, bell and adult choirs will continue to meet during the summer and will be expected to participate in Sunday services when scheduled.
