A long line of Kansas University faculty, staff and student soaked up the 5,000 tickets made available today for President Clinton’s Friday speech at Allen Fieldhouse for the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics.

The line had more than 1,000 people in it by 11:15 a.m, when the fieldhouse’s ticket windows opened.

By noon the line was gone, along with 3,500 tickets. By 12:30 p.m., all 5,000 tickets made available today had been claimed.

More tickets will be available on Tuesday.

At 9 a.m., the ticket windows will open again, with 5,000 tickets available for the general public.

All the seats are general admission seats.

The seats are in addition to the tickets that had been given away last week when the event was originally planned to be held at the Lied Center.

Officials agreed to change the venue of the speech from Lied, which seats 1,900 to the fieldhouse, which seats 16,300. The fieldhouse is expected to accommodate about 12,000 for the speech.
